Millet as "Shree-anna"

United Nations declared that the "Year-2023"as the International year of millet.They honoerd millet as "Shree-Anna"!

On 6 th december 2022,the FAO (food & Aggriculture Orgnization)of Unied Nations organized an opening ceremony for the international Year of Millet(IYM) 2023 in Rome, Itly.The Department of Agri and farmers Welfare has taken proactive multistake holders engagement approach(central gov. ministries,state UT'S,farmers,startups,exporters,hotels) to achieve the aim of IYM2023 and taking Indian millets globally.

Millets are group of small seeded grains. they are great sourse of nutrients,high in fibers also reach in vit,min,proteins. Major and important thing is that millet have gluten free properties.

Millet inclued

1. jowar (sorghum)- improve metabolism

2. Pearl millet(Bajra)-Rich in fiber and magnesium and help in minimising type 2 dibetes.

3. Finger millet(Ragi)-Rich sourse of Calcium, protein and iron.also have anti-oxidant anti-diabetic properties

4. Foxtail millet(Thinai)-Helps to control blood sugur and cholesterol.

4. Porso millet(vargu)-Rich sourse of fiber and protein.

4. Kodo millet- Rich in polyphenols an anti oxidant compound and fiber.

4. Little millet(sama)- High in iron.benificial in dibetes and stomach related disease.

4. Barnyard millet(ray)- High in fiber,Calcium and phosphorous.has low glycemic index and helps in type 2 dibetes.
